Frequently asked questions
- Is Previously free?
- Yes. Browsing charts, searching the catalog, watching free movies, and checking scores are all free. An optional free account unlocks follows, lists, and alerts.
- Do I need an account?
- No. You can browse everything without signing in. Accounts are only for features that need to remember you across visits — your follows, your lists, your episode alerts.
- Can I watch full movies on Previously?
- The Free section hosts full-length public-domain films you can watch right on the page. For everything else, we link you to the services that officially carry it — we don't host copyrighted streams.
- Where do the Top 10s come from?
- Real audience and cultural data — streaming charts, box office, music charts, player counts, podcast rankings — blended into one list per section. The full methodology is on our How We Rank page.
- Why isn't a title I'm looking for listed?
- Our library is always growing. If something's missing, suggest it — reader tips are one of the main ways new titles get added.
- How do I follow a show, artist, or creator?
- Sign in, tap Follow on any title or person page, and they'll appear in your library. You'll get alerts for new episodes, releases, or appearances depending on your notification settings.
- Something looks wrong — a broken link, bad artwork, wrong date. What do I do?
- Tell us at tips@watchpreviously.com. Include the page URL and what's wrong. We fix reported errors fast — accuracy is the whole job.
- Do you have an app?
- Previously is built as a fast mobile website that works like an app — add it to your home screen from your browser's share menu. No download, no updates, no storage.
- How do I add Previously to my phone's home screen?
- On iPhone: open Previously in Safari, tap the Share button, then Add to Home Screen. On Android: open it in Chrome, tap the three-dot menu, then Add to Home screen (or Install app if offered). It'll launch full-screen with its own icon, just like a native app — and it updates itself, so you never touch an app store.
- How do I delete my account?
- From your settings, choose Delete Account. This permanently removes your profile, follows, and lists. See our Privacy Policy for details.
- How do I change my account email or password?
- Head to your settings. You can update your email address and set a new password there. If you've forgotten your password entirely, use the reset link on the sign-in screen and check your inbox (and spam folder) for the reset email.
- Can I advertise on Previously?
- We run display advertising through Google AdSense. For direct partnerships or sponsorships, contact us through the contact page.
- Why am I seeing ads?
- Previously is free, and advertising is what keeps it that way — no paywall in front of the charts, ever. We run standard display ads and work to keep them from getting in the way of the content. If an ad is broken, offensive, or covering content, tell us with a screenshot and we'll look into it.
- Something won't load or looks broken. What should I try?
- First, check your connection and make sure your browser is up to date — most playback and layout issues trace back to one of those. Then try the page again in a few minutes; the site updates through the day and occasionally a deploy is mid-flight. If it's still broken, contact us with your device, browser, and the page URL — that combination lets us reproduce almost anything.
- Can I download movies to watch offline?
- No — free movies stream in your browser only. We don't offer downloads, even for public-domain films. If you want something for a flight, your best bet is the watchlist: save titles here, then grab them from the official services we link to before you leave Wi-Fi.
- What is The Ticket?
- The Ticket is our sports betting guide — matchup breakdowns and picks powered by real matchup data, odds movement, and playoff implications. It's entertainment and education, not financial advice: never bet more than you can afford to lose, and only where sports betting is legal. If gambling stops being fun, help is available at 1-800-GAMBLER.
- What are the "Rewind" league hubs?
- League hubs like NBA Rewind and MLB Rewind are Previously's own branded homes for each league — our branding, our design, never the league's trademarks. You'll find standings, matchups, team pages, and the season's storylines, all in one place.
- What is Story Board?
- Story Board is our tag-driven view for true-crime and narrative storytelling. Episodes tagged as true-crime or narrative automatically get the Story Board treatment — chapters, case beats, and timelines — with native video chapters where they're available. It's the deep-dive mode for stories that deserve more than a list.
- How do I stop alerts or emails?
- Every alert lives in your settings under Notifications — episode alerts, release alerts, and score updates can each be toggled separately. Marketing emails, if any, always carry an unsubscribe link at the bottom. We never sell your contact info, and writing to us never subscribes you to anything.
- Who writes the articles?
- Real writers with real beats and their own voices — Vivian's film grades, Cuz's verdicts, Ray's recommendations, and a crime desk that reports victim-first and fact-driven. Every story ships with substance: real reporting, real photos, real links. Read more on our About page.
- Is Previously kid-friendly?
- Previously is built as a general-audience site. The free movies are public-domain classics, and we don't host age-restricted video. That said, news coverage sometimes deals with mature true-crime and cultural topics, so parents may want to browse alongside younger kids — the same way they'd watch the evening news together.
Still stuck?
