The Elevator Prologue Lyrics

I'm safe and I'm suffocating
We live in Manhattan Plaza
Which is cheap housing for artists
Which means almost everyone
Who lives here is an artist
Which means
You never know what you're gonna hear
When these elevator doors open up

Yeah that's Mr Gordon 32nd floor
Forever on his trumpet
And watch, its going to open on 27th
Panera sisters are always having their dance class I swear
Like somehow every hour of the day
And I kind of hope its going to open on 17
I mean I do always like 17

(opera singing)

Yeah, I got no idea who that is or what they're saying
But, but I think they're in love
And then 9 is the poets, 8 is the painters
We got that whole string section, right on 7, 7, 6, 5 and 4

And when you hit that ground floor, piano
Always piano
