About Ponce
Aurélien Gilles — Ponce — is the beating heart of French Twitch: a former electrical-engineering student turned conservatory theater dropout turned math teacher turned streamer, whose entire universe runs on flowers. In a French streaming scene that’s had its share of toxicity and drama, Ponce built one of its biggest, kindest rooms — proof that gentleness scales.
Born September 21, 1991, in Avignon, Gilles took the long way to streaming. He studied electrical engineering at Polytech Montpellier, then reoriented toward the theater, studying at the Toulouse Conservatory — and after a dispiriting spell at drama school in Paris, ended up teaching mathematics in preparatory classes for nursing and caregiver diploma exams. It’s an unusual résumé for a gaming streamer, and it shows in the channel: there’s a teacher’s warmth and a performer’s instinct in everything he does. In 2016 he started streaming on Twitch and joined the French web TV LeStream, where he went by “PonceFesse” before trimming it to the sleeker, current Ponce.
The early content was World of Warcraft, Mario Kart, Animal Crossing — but what stuck was the vibe. The branding is a flower, and it’s deliberate: a logo, an editorial line, a whole identity built around softness and kindness. His intro music is Salut c’est cool’s “Des fleurs” (“Nous sommes des fleurs, nous sommes de très jolies fleurs” — “We are flowers, we are very pretty flowers”); the community are “les fleurs”; one of his quiz formats is called “Le maître des fleurs.” Merch, emotes, overlays, even the Twitch logo on his channel — the whole world blooms. It’s one of the most fully realized personal brands in French streaming, instantly recognizable, and it’s built on being nice.
In 2019 he joined Domingo’s team as a full-time columnist on the talk show Popcorn, the flagship of French Twitch talk. In 2020 he launched “Ponce la nuit” — a late-night show that started on LeStream’s channel and then moved to his own YouTube, with guests like Antoine Daniel and Samuel Étienne. He’s been part of Z Event, the giant annual French charity streaming marathon, since 2020. TwitchCon put him on the marquee for its Paris edition in 2023, with Ponce hosting live entertainment alongside LittleBigWhale.
It hasn’t all been smooth. In June 2021, Twitch briefly suspended his channel for airing a ’70s film trailer that showed a nipple — a ban the French outlet Madmoizelle relayed as a symbol of the platform’s exaggerated puritanism. And in March 2025 came one of the funniest mix-ups in Twitch history: Ponce realized, live on stream, that the “Bleed Purple” 5-million-hours-watched statue sitting in his room wasn’t his at all — it had been sent to the wrong streamer. The engraving read “DaigotheBeasTV,” the fighting-game legend’s channel, and Ponce — who’d had the statue for weeks without reading the inscription — had to look up who Daigo even was. A career built on warmth, accidentally gifted someone else’s trophy, returned with grace.
Why he matters: Ponce is the living argument that you don’t need rage-bait, callouts, or controversy to build a massive community — that a room can be huge and still feel gentle. In a decade when streaming got louder, meaner, and more cynical, the guy whose community calls itself the flowers kept growing. That’s not a branding trick. That’s the whole point.
The late-night show is the best window into what he actually does. “Ponce la nuit” isn’t gaming content with a host — it’s a talk show that happens to be hosted by a streamer: guests, segments, the easy rhythm of someone who trained for the stage and found his stage on Twitch instead. Antoine Daniel, Samuel Étienne — French internet royalty, sitting down in the flower universe like it’s the most natural thing in the world. On Popcorn, he was the columnist who could be funny without being cruel, the rare panel voice that never needed a target. That’s a harder skill than it looks, and French Twitch noticed.
The numbers back it up: hundreds of thousands of YouTube subscribers, tens of millions of views, a merch store (boutiqueponce.fr) selling the flower universe back to the flowers themselves, and a Twitch channel that’s been running since 2016 without ever changing its fundamental promise. He’s part of the Z Event furniture now — the charity marathon that’s become French streaming’s biggest annual tradition — and the Daigo statue saga of 2025 only confirmed what the community already knew: the guy is constitutionally incapable of being anything but gracious, even when Twitch mails him someone else’s trophy.
Why Ponce endures comes down to something simple: he built the room he wanted to exist. No irony poisoning, no manufactured beef, no race to the bottom — just a former math teacher from Avignon who decided his corner of the internet would be soft, funny, and kind, and then spent a decade proving that was enough. The flowers keep blooming. They’re not stopping.

Aurélien Gilles — Ponce — is one of the defining voices of French Twitch. A former math teacher turned full-time streamer, he's spent the better part of a decade building one of the most beloved channels in the francophone scene.
The backstory is pure Ponce. Born in Avignon, he studied electrical engineering, pivoted to theater at the Toulouse conservatory, washed out of drama school in Paris, and ended up teaching math to nursing students. Then in 2016 he started streaming on Twitch — and never looked back.
The early years were LeStream, the French web TV where he went by "PonceFesse" before shortening it. World of Warcraft, Mario Kart, Animal Crossing — the games were the excuse; the company was the point. His motto says it all: on se tape des immenses barres — we're here to laugh our heads off.
Then came Popcorn. In 2019 he joined Domingo's team as a full-time columnist on the flagship talk show, bringing his chaos to the biggest desk in French streaming. In 2020 he launched "Ponce la nuit," his own late-night show, hosting guests like Antoine Daniel and Samuel Étienne.
The Z Event is his annual home. He's been part of the charity marathon since 2020, one of the familiar faces of the biggest fundraising weekend in francophone streaming.
He's had his brushes with the platform — a one-day ban in 2021 for airing a 70s film trailer with a visible nipple became a minor cause célèbre about Twitch's puritanism. He laughed it off, obviously.
With over 780,000 Twitch followers, Ponce is a pillar of the scene — the funny one, the warm one, the one whose stream feels like the best night out.
