About this creator
A Red Bull Thre3style world champion, a Fool’s Gold producer, half of the 2¢ DJ duo with Craze, and a Seattle skate-shop co-owner — Four Color Zack is the DJ’s DJ, a technician behind the decks who turned championship turntablism into a global party-rocking career.
Four Color Zack is the DJ’s DJ: a Seattle turntablist and producer whose technical mastery behind the decks took him from the city’s underground party scene to a world championship, a Fool’s Gold Records catalog, Vegas mega-club residencies, and a reputation — endorsed by DJ Jazzy Jeff himself, who has named him among his favorite DJs — as one of the most complete party-rockers in the game.
The coronation came in Chicago in 2012. Eighteen DJs from across the globe gathered for a week of Red Bull Thre3style World Championship competition — five dance-filled nights, two rules (three genres minimum, and, in host Hollywood Holt’s words, “they have to get the party crackin’!”), judged by Cosmo Baker, Skratch Bastid, and Jazzy Jeff. Through qualifying rounds and wild cards, Zack advanced to a Saturday final stacked with international talent — DJ Beam of Spain, Nedu Lopes of Brazil, DJ Nicco of Jamaica, DJ Shub of Canada, DJ Drummer of Chile — and won the whole thing, taking home the $10,000 grand prize and the title of Red Bull Thre3style World Champion. It was the kind of victory that rewrites a career overnight: the Seattle DJ was suddenly a global name.
What made the win stick was everything around the trophy. Zack had already made major waves in Seattle’s DJ scene, and his edit game became legendary in its own right — most famously a Lion King x ‘Core’ edit that became a staple of RL Grime’s tour, the kind of weapon-grade DJ tool that travels from DJ to DJ until it’s folklore. His sets are masterclasses in bringing the party together: arena shows, Vegas mega-clubs, underground parties, all handled with the same ease, cutting between club, house, rap, and trap with scratches, clever transitions, and mash-ups that flex the championship technique without ever showing off at the music’s expense.
The 2¢ project with Craze is the statement piece. Craze — himself a multi-time DMC champion and one of the most decorated turntablists alive — linked with Zack to form 2¢, a duo explicitly out to remind the world that good DJing is important. Their mixes were statement-making, skill-showcasing works of art: the debut 2¢ mix called out wack DJs and a meaningless industry Top 100 list while flexing impossible technique; the ‘Propaganda’ video routine built the mythology; 2¢ Part 2 and Part 3 kept raising the bar, with Part 3 turning socially conscious — tackling police brutality, drinking and driving, and the political moment — through perfectly executed samples, loops, and songs. It is rare for a DJ mix to make you stop and think; 2¢ did it at a relentless pace, and the project stands as a manifesto for what DJ culture can be when the technicians are also the auteurs.
The producer catalog runs through Fool’s Gold Records, where Zack released music as a regular producer, plus collaborations like ‘Anymore’ with Holly — a fierce blend of samples, worldly soundscapes, and vicious sound design — and the G-Buck reunion ‘Can’t Kill Me.’ The touring life took him around the world: Holy Ship! Wrecked in the Dominican Republic (the Chris Lake sunrise beach set, in his telling, was a moment; seeing Armand Van Helden play was all time), festival stages, club residencies. In Las Vegas he has held court at Marquee Dayclub, Tao Nightclub, and Hakkasan — the full Sin City circuit, for a DJ who treats every room like it’s the finals.
Off the decks, Zack co-owns and designs products for Alive & Well, the Seattle skate shop — a second creative lane that fits the same ethos: build the culture you want to live in. On Twitch, where he streams as fourcolorzack, the championship technique meets the modern content grind, bringing turntablism to an audience that discovered DJing through a chat window.
What endures about Four Color Zack is the completeness of the skill set. Plenty of DJs can rock a party; plenty of technicians can win a battle. Zack is the rare one who does both at the highest level — the world champion who never stopped being a party DJ, the technician who never forgot the assignment is the dancefloor. Every set is a masterclass, every edit is a weapon, and the party, wherever in the world it is, is in the best possible hands.
The Seattle roots run deep and they show. Before the world title, Zack was a fixture of the city’s underground circuit — Neumos, Chop Suey, the party scene that produced a generation of Northwest DJs — grinding out sets where the only judges were the dancers. The ‘Rords Of The Froor’ era — a costumed, drunken pro/am b-boy battle party with a drinking-competition element that he has described as “true performance art” — tells you everything about the scene that raised him: unserious on the surface, deadly serious about the craft underneath.
The edit game deserves its own paragraph because DJ edits are the underground’s currency, and Zack minted some of the most valuable. The Lion King x ‘Core’ edit — a childhood-classic vocal flipped over a festival weapon — became a staple of RL Grime’s tour, which is the DJ equivalent of your demo ending up in the championship game. His guest mixes, like the FUXWITHIT exclusive spanning club, house, rap, and trap, are dense with the technique: scratches that serve the transition, mash-ups that shouldn’t work and do, pacing that treats a recorded mix like a live set with something to prove.
On Twitch, the championship technique meets the modern grind. Streaming as fourcolorzack, he brings turntablism — a discipline built for dark rooms and loud systems — into the chat-window era, and the translation works because the fundamentals are the same: read the room, rock the room. Whether the room is Hakkasan’s main floor or a thousand browser tabs, the assignment doesn’t change, and Four Color Zack has never missed it.
